JOHOR BARU: Snatch theft victim Sanorfizah Saleh, 31, who has had four operations at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here on Oct 30 – one of which was to deliver her baby while she was in a coma – will undergo another operation tomorrow. This time, it is for a dislocated jaw.

Husband Azahar Md Ali, 33, said the doctors informed him on Saturday that they were going to put a steel plate to support her dislocated jaw, which resulted from her fall during the snatch theft incident.

Sanorfizah was travelling from her house in Masai to pick up some goods from a direct-selling stockist in Pasir Gudang when two men on a motorcycle snatched her handbag from the front carrier of her motorbike.

One of them had kicked the pregnant woman, causing her to fall on the road resulting in serious injuries and a broken jaw. She was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit and has not regained consciousness.

She has undergone four operations, including an operation to deliver little Amirul Naim and to remove blood clots in her head.

On Thursday, Sanorfizah was taken off the respirator and transferred to the neurological ward for doctors to monitor her brain injuries. She was later put back on the respirator after developing breathing difficulties.

The couple has five other sons, who will spend the festive holidays with their grandparents in Tampin, Negri Sembilan.

Azahar said his three sons, aged 12, 11 and seven, who are schooling at the SK Cahaya Baru in Masai, had been given permission by their headmaster to go for an early break. Their other siblings are aged six and two

Azhar puts plans on hold

JOHOR BARU: This was supposed to be a time of great joy for Azhar Md Ali, but he has spent the past 10 days worrying about his wife.

Plans for their 13th wedding anniversary celebrations, welcoming another baby and Hari Raya will have to be put on hold until his wife, snatch theft victim Sanorfizah Saleh, comes out of a coma.

If things had gone as planned, 33-year-old Azhar, who works in an electronics company in Pasir Gudang, would have taken Sanorfizah out to celebrate their anniversary on Oct 21.

“I had planned to take her out for dinner before going shopping for her gift,” Azhar said.

While sad that his plans had to be postponed, Azhar is still determined to have a celebration with his wife when she is better.

He himself is slowly recovering after a stressful and emotional week.

“I feel calmer about facing the future now,” he said here yesterday.

On Oct 20, 31-year-old Sanorfizah was travelling from her home in Masai to pick up some goods from a direct-selling stockist in Pasir Gudang when two men on a motorcycle snatched her handbag. One of them also kicked her motorcycle, causing her to fall.

Doctors at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital were forced to perform a caesarean section to deliver the couple’s sixth child, who was originally only due yesterday.

Baby Amirul Naim is being looked after by Azhar’s brother and sister-in-law.

Azhar said Sanorfizah was expecting a girl as they have five boys.

In fact, the couple planned to hold a kenduri for the baby and Hari Raya.

However, all those plans are no longer important.

All Azhar wants now is to have his wife well and back home.

On Thursday, Sanorfizah was taken off the respirator and transferred from the general intensive care unit to the neurological ward to allow doctors to monitor the brain injuries she had suffered from the fall.

She was moved to the neurological high dependency unit yesterday and put back on the respirator after developing breathing difficulties and a fever.
