KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man who snatched a handbag containing RM2,300 from a 51-year-old Indonesian woman while she was walking alone in a lane was jailed 20 months.
Nasharddin Hussain, 37, had admitted to snatching the bag from Muzadalipah at Lorong Keramat 11 at about 10.30am on Nov 21.
Pleading for leniency yesterday, Nasharddin said he was a first-time offender. He added that he regretted his actions and that he had to support his two children.
Prosecuting officer Chief Insp A. Vasu asked the court to impose a deterrent sentence on Nasharddin in view of the gravity of the offence.
